Your day will start with a drive to the Húsafell Activity Center, located just 2 hours from the capital city of Reykjavík. Here, you’ll meet your guide and depart for the glacier ice cave. You’ll ride in a modified 8-wheel glacier truck, made specifically for exploring glacier environments, on the way over to Langjökull!
When you reach the tunnel, you’ll walk on ancient ice inside bright blue corridors and learn all about Iceland’s second-largest glacier. The tunnel visit takes around 1 hour, and the whole experience—preparation, exploration, and transfers—lasts about 4 hours in total. You’ll be back at Húsafell around 2:30 PM.
After the ice cave tour, you’ll have time for a lunch break. You can stop at Húsafell Bistro, enjoy a quick picnic, or continue directly to Krauma, where the on-site restaurant serves Icelandic and international dishes. From Húsafell, you’ll drive yourself about 30 minutes to Krauma Geothermal Spa. Your scheduled arrival time is 4:00 PM, but it’s best to arrive 15 minutes before your booking.
At Krauma, you’ll be greeted by natural geothermal waters, saunas, cold baths, a relaxation room, and hot tubs. It’s a smooth, relaxing finish to an exciting day in West Iceland!
Please note: All timings are approximate and depend strongly on season, road conditions, and weather on Langjökull.
