Husafell is located in Borgarfjordur in West Iceland, about 125 km from Reykjavík. You can estimate about 2-2,5 hours driving or enjoying the scenic view from your bus.
Husafell is a natural gem and a popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It‘s magnificent nature all around and the mild weather certainly is an attraction for both Icelanders and foreigners. Husafell is a green area (compared to Iceland at least!) with a low forest mostly with birch, it is located between beautiful lava mountains and the majestic Langjokull glacier and has numerous hiking paths for all ages and difficult stages. In the nearest area, you can check out some exciting waterfalls running out of ancient lava field from volcano eruptions underneath Langjokull glacier; Hraunfossar and Barnafossar. The hot spring area Deildartunguhver is not far off and it worth checking out but the hot spring is considered to be the world‘s voluminous hot spring. Take care not to stick your fingers in the water since it is about 97 degree Celsius hot!
Hotel Husafell welcomes guests and alike for lunch or drinks. It‘s a new modern hotel with excellent facilities, food, and services. Other sites close to Husafell is among other interesting sites Reykholt, Surtshellir cave, Vidgelmir cave and the Stedji micro-brewery.
If you are travelling with children, this is a very child-friendly place to be, the geothermal swimming pool is both warm and fun and the admission fee is low. You can rent swimsuits if you didn´t bring your own, and a towel as well. Don’t let anything stop your from trying this nice pool if you can!
There is also a playground, volleyball court, and a big air-ballon to jump and play on! Grown-ups are welcome to try too!
