Hotel Husafell

April 29, 2016

During the winter season all our tours Into The Glacier start from Husafell, a real natural gem in Borgarfjordur in West Iceland – or more specifically at Hotel Husafell. We recommend a stop at this friendly place, either just for a nice cup of coffee with amazing view or an overnight stay with all the luxury and comfort allowed in rural Iceland! You better book ahead though, the hotel can get quite busy.

New modern sustainable hotel

Hotel Husafell is a new modern hotel located in the magnificent landscape of Husafell where adventures await all around. The Langjokull Glacier is just around the corner and it is at Hotel Husafell where guests taking a day tour Into The Glacier can have their lunch break.

The hotel purely uses energy for their operation produced on the site from a small hydro powerplan driven by crystal clear springwater. The water you drink comes from nearby mountains and is both fresh and clear and the water you bath in and which heats up the hotel is also natural geothermal water from springs in the area. How amazing is that? There is enough geothermal water in the area, you should try it first hand in the swimming pool beside the hotel!

36 nicely decorated rooms

Hotel Husafell is a comfortable hotel with all the luxury you need in rural Iceland. There are six spacious Deluxe rooms, with both shower and bathtub and a direct access to a nice terrace. The design is mixed with Icelandic decor and the walls are beautifully decorated with paintings from Husafell‘s world-renowned artis, Pall Gudmundsson. There are 30 standard rooms available, also nicely decorated and all with ensuite bathrooms. For those who need Hotel Husafell offers 4 standard accessible rooms. All rooms in Hotel Husafell are non-smoking and there is free WiFi both in rooms and in public spaces. A rich breakfast buffet is included in every overnight stay at the hotel.

Delicious dining options

Hotel Husafell has two restaurants and welcomes guests travelling by car or in a bus day tour. There are four dining halls so groups are very welcome too, but better to reserve in beforehand. Everyone should find something at their liking in the hotel‘s international kitchen. Their menu is under the influence of Nordic cuisine and the chef puts effort in providing as much local ingredients for the kitchen as possible at each season.

Adventures all around

There is plenty to do around Hotel Husafell, weather you like to relax and just enjoy the mild weather and stunning nature all around or have a day packed with adventures. Glaciers, lava, waterfalls and geothermal hot springs are close by and if self-driving Into The Glacier, we recommend a stay at the hotel to enjoy and explore other natural wonders close by.

The Husafell geothermal swimming pool is located just beside the hotel and we truly recommend taking time to relax, heal and renew oneself after an eventful day. The entrance fee is low and they can even lend you swim suits and towels for low cost if you didn‘t bring your own.
